Senna

Director: Asif Kapadia
Year Released: 2010
Rating: 2.0

Documentary on prominent Formula One driver Ayrton Senna charts his rise to prominence from go kart driver (from a wealthy family) to World Champion, before losing his life in a crash at a remarkably young age. I went into this not knowing much about Formula One and unfortunately didn't learn a whole lot about it by the time it was over, and the only thing I knew about Senna was that there was a game for the Sega Master System with his name on that, and unfortunately, I didn't learn all that much about him from this film (except that he was fiery, determined and liked to take chances). The rivalry that existed between him and Alain Prost is supposed to be the core of the picture which makes for some interest, but I found most of this to be distanced and a little cold.
