Director:  Hélène Cattet & Bruno Forzani
Year Released:  2009
Rating:  1.0

Cattet and Forzani choppy-chop their hollow, pseudo-Freudian poppycock - centered around a woman's history of sexual hang-ups and issues (starting from when she was a young girl and she equated her dying grandfather with her fornicating mother) - into a glitzy visual feast. Argento's films are an obvious influence, but I'm not even sure Dario would be foolish enough to abuse the close-up like this: their over-usage comes across as a film-school novelty and becomes silly after the first act (eyeball! wart! mouth! panties! hand! repeat!). Without the glossiness most viewers would be all too aware of the total lack of substance: perhaps Cattet and Forzani can spend more time on character and less on what tint to use on the shot of someone's nostrils.
