Director: Jacques Tati
Year Released: 1971
Rating: 1.5

Monsieur Hulot (Tati) needs to get his experimental camping vehicle to Hedonism Centraal (read: Amsterdam) for an auto show, but even simple tasks are a challenge for the raincoat-clad Regent of SNAFU. Sometimes Hulot is bumbling in a charming way (Mon Oncle, the great Mr. Hulot's Holiday), and sometimes he just isn't: this Tati picture is riddled with poor timing, lame vaudeville bits and only sporadic moments of inspiration, like the major crash scene that has the crash-ees stretching out and then running after the car parts that have been dislodged and rolled away. The whole Modern Life is a Nightmare was well-covered in Mon Oncle and Playtime; this is too impersonal to affect the emotions.
