Triad Election

Director: Johnny To
Year Released: 2006
Rating: 1.5

One of the least exciting gangster pictures I've had the displeasure of watching in a while: several ne'er-do-wells compete to be elected chairman of the board, with several fatalities and threats to go along the way. Since plot exposition is clunky, what's left are some moody nighttime shots and lead bad guy Louis Koo's eerie resemblance to Alain Delon. If I'm not totally mistaken, not a single bullet is fired in the entire movie (!), which has to be some weird accomplishment (bodies get beaten and sawed up, but no gunplay) - he must have used the ammunition up for Exiled and tried to make this a Chinese Goodfellas.
