Mr. Bean's Holiday

Director: Steve Bendelack
Year Released: 2007
Rating: 1.0

Rowan Atkinson's klutzy, inadvertently anti-social Mr. Bean wins a free holiday to Cannes, but his inability to even do the simplest things - like eat, walk, hold onto a ticket stub - make getting there a challenge. The anti-elitism angle is tired - Bean usurps a pretentious American filmmaker's egotistical 'masterpiece' with his crude camcorder footage (and the crowd goes wild!) - and it ends happily, unlike the down-and-out failed holiday of a certain Mr. Hulot. I confess to liking the Bean TV show because (a.) the skits were short and (b.) Atkinson was allowed to be a prick - here, he's neutered and stuck with familiar sight gags.
