'The ending is the most important part,' we're told by unreliable narrator Johnny Depp, and this is very wrong: the ending is important in that it ties together the first and second acts of a movie, but when the first and second acts are bad and the last act is horrible, what's the point? Anyone that cannot guess the film's twist isn't paying attention - doesn't the camera "sink into" the mirror at some point in the first couple of minutes? Johnny Depp's ruffled writer character occasionally turns into spastic Hunter S. Thompson and John Turturro is badly miscast as a laughable redneck. The only thing this movie made me want to do is re-watch the under appreciated Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas again.
