Pillow Talk

Director: Michael Gordon
Year Released: 1959
Rating: 2.0

Don't get me wrong: I'm a sucker for sweet, playful romantic comedies. But this movie, with Doris Day and Rock Hudson, is too sweet, too trite and frankly, too much. At times it's so pathetically corny you want to roll your eyes - there's too much zooming in and out with the camera and too many goofy special effects. Some of the scenes are excessively ridiculous as well ... like when the baby doctor chases after Rock Hudson because Hudson claims that 'he's pregnant.' That stuff only works in a sitcom.
