Chronicle of a project in a state of collapse: Terry Gilliam's proposed 30+ million dollar project based on Don Quixote falls to pieces after a series of problems to its cast and sets. Aside from the obvious comparison made that Gilliam himself is chasing windmills, it also stands as a depressing warning signal for overly adventurous filmmakers who want to spend millions financing their own private dreams and potentially bombing at the box office - it could spend years in pre-production and fall apart. Gilliam comes across as being surprisingly composed while all around him are losing their heads and blaming it on everyone else - he proudly claims he'll forge on and make it one day. Fascinating but slight documentary filmmaking.
